The PlayStation Network has been down since yesterday evening and might stay that way for another day or two according to Sony.
Sony has acknowledged the problem yesterday and 8:50 on the official PlayStation blog where it confirmed that the PSN is currently inaccessible from PS3s and PSPs across the United States and Europe and it "may be a full day or two before we're able to get the service completely back up and running."
Sony hasn't given any reason for the outage which, the company claims, is still being investigated. In the meantime, users who try to log in to the PlayStation Store online are greeted with a message saying that "the server is currently down for maintenance."
The famous hacking group, Anonymous, has threatened to take the PSN offline earlier this month as a response to Sony's lawsuit against the PlayStation hacker GeoHot. However, the group has since halted their attack "until a method is found that will not severely impact Sony customers." Additionally, Sony's lawsuit against GeoHot was settled with undisclosed terms out of court.
