In the latest press event celebrating the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, the game's designer Hideo Kojima wasn't too shy about showing the hefty amount of product placement the game features.
Kojima conducted his presentations while taking sips of energy drink, Regain, which -coincidently- is one of the most prominent real life products advertised in Metal Gear Solid 4. Regain is also getting its own ad campaign to tie in with the game.
Snake will carry an iPod this time and use it to play tracks that the player will find throughout the game. Several Snake's enemies will carry Sony Ericsson W62S mobile phone and ride Triumph motorcycles, including the Bonneville T100 and Speed Triple (which is the bike ridden by Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 2).
Also a duck shaped clock called the GA-KO alarm clock is featured in some of the game's scenes. It will go on sale July 31st, and sell for 2940 yen (around $30).
Finally, Kojima introduced a line of MGS4-themed t-shirts, in collaboration with Uniqlo's UT brand. The t-shirts feature graphics by Logan Media, Power Graphixx, and Kusano Design. They'll be available from June 12th, the day the game goes on sale, and sell for 1500 yen (around $15), which is typical UT pricing.
Kojima also revealed that Snake will be able to wear Altair's (the protagonist of Assassin's Creed) cloth and that Swimsuit model Akina Minami is also featured in the game, as a poster that Snake encounters and recognizes.
