Pokémon Go Team Leaders now have a purpose

The three leaders in Pokémon Go might have generated tonnes of fan art and fiction, lent a measure of individuality to the three otherwise identical teams and given something for people to rally around, but in reality, they don't do anything at all.

That's about to change with the next update to the augmented reality game though.

Announced on the game's blog, the update brings the game to version 0.35.0 for Android and 1.5.0 for iOS. Each team leader can now take part in Pokémon Appraisal, which will give trainers an idea of how effective a Pokémon might be if put into battle at a local gym.

It's not clear exactly what they'll look at, whether it's the hidden IV value of the pocket monster, its abilities and attacks, health, speed - nobody is quite sure for now, but with the update rolling out right now, it likely won't be long until we do.

Other improvements as part of the patch include some other minor fixes to prevent bots from allowing people to collect impossibly powerful Pokémon and max level their characters in days or hours, as well as a few other "exciting features," we're we aren't privy to.

The question is though, is Pokémon Go holding your attention? Are you still playing?
