Kohnke Communications, a US PR firm, has filed suit against Perpetual Entertainment, developers of the Gods & Heroes and Star Trek Online MMOs.
Kohnke is suing Perpetual Entertainment for breach of contract, fraudulent transfer, fraud, and various other charges for damages between $80,000 and $290,000.
Long story short, Kohnke alleges that Perpetual Entertainment decided to cancel Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising without telling Kohnke who were working on the game's pr campaign. Moreover, after deciding to cancel the game and just one day before officially announcing the cancelation, Perpetual asked Kohnke to develop additional promotional materials. Kohnke described that request as being "fraudulent, oppressive, and with malice."
Kohnke's contract with Perpetual Entertainment stated that Kohnke would conduct a public relations campaign for Gods & Heroes for USD 15,000 per month. However, for first seven months, Kohnke would receive USD 5000 only. Kohnke would receive the withheld USD 70,000 plus an incentive of up to 400 per cent (USD 280,000), based upon the number of subscribers 90 days after the game's shipment date.
The game's cancellation means that Kohnke would never receive this money.
