While the jury is still out on Nintendo's upcoming console-handheld hybrid, the Nintendo Switch, it looks like the company has at least one base covered with its hometown.
The weekly market analysis by Media Create reported that The Switch preorders have been sold out at all major retailers in Japan and that preorders for the upcoming console in the country now account for at least 80% of its planned initial shipment.
Nintendo did not reveal the number of units it intends to ship to Japan, but it did announce that it plans to ship 2 million units worldwide when The Switch launches on March 3rd, 2017. Until now, reception in the Western world seems to be largely negative as gamers who don't really care for its handheld side tend to find the console to be underpowered and overpriced.
The Switch is set to launch worldwide on March 3rd, 2017. It will retail for 29,970 yen in Japan, $299.99 in the US and £279.99.
