It seems like only yesterday that Turtle Rock was showing off its third monster, the Wraith, but already we're getting a look-in at the Evolve's fourth monster and the first set to be released as DLC after the game's launch on February 10.
It was finally named Behemoth after a crowd-sourced naming event and it certainly warrants it. This monster is the largest that the game can handle, so they won't ever get any bigger than this until the potential sequel. It really does make the Goliath, the game's previous heavy hitter, look like a weakling.
However, it can't jump, can't run - it can only roll to build up some speed - but it does come equipped with some cool abilities. There's a tongue that can grab hunters from a distance and pull them in, lava bombs that can set fires, a rock wall that can be conjured from the ground and a long range fissure attack that it creates by smashing the ground like The Hulk.
It also comes equipped with the most health and armour of any other monster, so it's going to be a beast to take down.
In the test footage shown here, many of the abilities don't have their full effects or final animations and of course the level it's being tested in is devoid of all the obstacles that could potentially cause problems with its massive model.
That means there's plenty more testing still needed, but Turtle Rock is confident it can bring the new monster to bear shortly after the game's release. It will be given away free to anyone that pre-orders, or will cost $15 for those that don't. Though everyone will be able to play against it.
