Although Kratos might have perpetuated the myth that pulling the spine of a God through its mouth is easy, more subtle titles like Shadow of the Colossus showed us that it is actually rather difficult to put the sword to a deity. They're big for starters and very powerful, but if you have a horse and a bow, perhaps it might be possible.
That's the vibe you get from the new trailer for Prey for the Gods, a game by a small developer called No Matter. It's entirely self funded and the trailer below is all in-game and asset based footage, so this isn't far off what the final experience will be like.
The aesthetics of the game are immediately eye catching and charming, from the subtle foot-steps in snow effect, to the fearful looking local wild-life and ancient cave paintings depicting the towering beast atop the mountain.
And it is towering. When it shows up, our player character is dwarfed by several hundred times and seems to have little chance of surviving. Indeed, unless at the end she's about to bust into a powerful quick-time-event combo, I don't think she's making it through this one.
But perhaps you might. Currently Prey for the Gods is slated for release on PC and Mac, with no announced date as of yet.
