The next patch applied to Microsoft's Project Spark, will change things up a lot with regards to its pricing structure. Moving forward, its free to play model will change entirely, with all assets made entirely free for anyone. That does mean though that there will be no more DLC for the game building system too.
That means no more episodic adventures like Conker's Big Reunion either.
To be fair to those that recently purchased content, Microsoft will be refunding anything people paid for since July 28. That will happen automatically when the patch is released on October 5, though Microsoft has apologised and said it wouldn't be possible to refund anyone prior to that date.
Those who purchased digital or boxed versions of the game after that date will also be refunded.
"Microsoft will pivot from producing DLC and active feature development to encouraging more user generated content and opening the Project Spark experience," Project Spark executive Rahul Sandil said in a forum post (thanks EG).
"With a total of 46 released packs and 2,000+ assets, we feel like we've gotten to a good place with our content offers for creators."
Along with the policy change, the October patch will also add 200+ new assets, a doubled limit on maximum terrain limit in the world builder, prop count has been increased to 500 and every creator will have over 100 upload slots for their creations.
