Within this week, however, both Hellgate: London and Gears Of War developers admitted and promised to fix major problems with both games. And now, Call of Duty 4 joined the list.
Suffering from long matchmaking waits and a dreaded "Downloading Game Settings" message, most Playstation 3 CoD 4 players have been disgruntled with their online experience.
Infinity Ward's community manager Robert Bowling addressed admitted the issues on the game's official forums today, promising that upgrades to the servers and dedicated databases for individual online functions should fix the complaints.
"The server team has been working on this all weekend, and will be working through the night. They're upgrading all server hardware as well as dedicating an individual database to each functionality to improve performance and handle the traffic hitting the servers. (i.e. Database for Matchmaking, Database for Leaderboards, etc.)," Bowling wrote under his forum name, fourzerotwo.
Unfortunately, while the upgrades are being done players may still receive the "Downloading Game Settings" message. "Remember, this is just short term; eventually once everything is upgraded you won't be receiving Downloading Game Settings at all. However, if you do, just wait it out and you will be dropped into a lobby."
