As expected by the latest announcements regarding US demand for the PSP, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced that its PlayStation Portable handheld will be launched in Europe on 1st September 2005. This means the handheld's European launch will be severely delayed since many had hoped for an early summer event. Many analysts claim that Sony has decided to delay the European launch in order to concentrate and refine its U.S. campaign. The initial delay of the European launch was blamed on a shortage of units and the need to keep the U.S. launch fully supplied.
PlayStation Portable will go on sale in the European PAL territories on 1st September 2005, available in a single version Value Pack, priced at Euros 249 (GBP 179).
