Razer might have entered the smartphone market a little late, but it's doing so with a big splash. Its new device, the Razer Phone, claims to be the most powerful gaming smartphone in the world, making it an intriguing device for those that like to take their games with them wherever they go.
To make that a reality, Razer hasn't just utilized powerful internal hardware, it's also partnered with gaming firms like Square Enix and Tencent, to make sure that their games run at up to 120 frames per second, utilizing the smartphone's super fast-refresh-rate display to its fullest.
To look at the phone doesn't look too different from the competition. It's a brick style phone, with a large, edgeless display, front and rear-facing cameras (wide angle and standard) and a black paintjob. It does, however, come with two large, front-facing speakers for decent in-game audio backed by two amplifiers.
Under the hood though it's a little more impressive. Featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor for strong general processing and graphical rendering, it's paired up with 8GB of RAM for monster performance. That helps render everything on the 5.72-inch, QuadHD LCD display, which as mentioned, can run at up to 120Hz for ultrasmooth gaming. It's also protected by Gorilla Glass 3, so should be strong and durable. All of that is run by a 4,000MAh battery, so should last for many hours of gaming time.
Storage is said to be 64GB with support for up to 2TB through additional microSD cards. It also supports the latest Wi-Fi standards and NFC wireless connectivity.
The whole thing weighs in at 197grams and runs the latest Android Nougat operating system.
It's not cheap though. Standard retail price is $700 and you can pre-order one now, with handsets expected to begin shipping out on November 17.
