Razer now has its own display division and the first release from it is quite an exciting one. The Raptor 27 is an (unsurprisingly) 27-inch IPS display, with a resolution of 1440p and a refresh rate of 144Hz. It has a response time of just 4ms, for ghost-free gaming (1ms when motion blur reduction is enabled) and has a contrast ratio of 1000:1. It can even hit a brightness of 420 nits, with support for HDR across the whole panel.
It's a colorful looking display, with Razer's own Chroma lighting at its base, and some cable routers at the rear to help keep your desk tidy. The whole thing has quite a blocky-aesthetic, but it's thin, with trim bezels, and a uniform style that will fit right in with many gamer systems, especially if you have other Chroma devices that you can sync up with the display.
The Raptor 27 comes with Freesync built-in, but is also G-Sync compatible, so can technically benefit from the anti-screen tearing technologies, no matter what graphics card you have.
Although the price is a little high, at just shy of $700, this puts it only a little more expensive than some of the best gaming displays, like the Asus PG279Q and MG279Q. Those displays are also much older, have far thicker bezels, don't have Choma lighting, and are notorious for having a backlight bleed lottery when you buy them.
Razer's new display should be much more uniform. We'll need to wait for reviews to come in to confirm just how good it really is, but so far so good.
