Plague Inc. was an insanely popular flash game before it became a mobile and PC hit, having been downloaded more than 120 million times and selling more than 40,000 board games. But that's not the end of creator Ndemic Creations' plans for global domination. Its next game was Rebel Inc and after a successful run on mobile it's now making its way to PCs too, in the form of Rebel Inc.: Escalation.
The game is an expanded version of the original mobile title, charging players with restoring peace in a war torn region ripped in two by government and rebel forces. Where the original's sandbox gameplay was its main focus, though, the new game will feature a full campaign, multiplayer, steam workshop support, and improved graphics.
"Deadly insurgent attacks put constant pressure on your operation and sophisticated narrative algorithms shaped by your decisions model the needs of local populations," explained Ndemic (via Eurogamer). "Plan priorities with Intelligence Reports and Combat SITREPs, geek out with loads of new stats and graphs, and analyse your best strategies with end-of-game replays."
The initial launch of Rebel Inc: Escalation will feature five regions based in an Afghanistan-inspired locale, ranging from dense forest to sand-blasted deserts. There will be six playable governors, each with their own bonuses and drawbacks.
