Relive the Genesis with free Sega Classics collection on Steam

As much as the latest generations of PC games and console titles have been wonderful, we can all remember the humble beginnings of our gaming careers, with everyone having a favourite platform of their youth to fondly look back on.

For this writer, and many others born in the late 80s, the console of our first gaming forays, was the NES, or Genesis/MegaDrive, so it's great to see that new generations of gamers will have an easy time playing some of those classics soon enough, with Sega announcing that a collection of some of the best games from the Genesis era, will be making its way to Steam, for free!

Called the Sega Mega Drive Classics Hub, the collection of titles will include everything from Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Vectorman and many more.

Better yet, Sega has put the whole thing in a fictional 90s bedroom, complete with posters, an old CRT and of course cartridges to plug in - no word on if you have to blow on them to make them work though.

Who else is thinking this smacks of needing VR support?

All you need to do to be able to access the hub, is own a single game from the era already. Which ones do you own?
