Remedy Entertainment's Control was a massive success and has come to define the tail-end of a gaming generation with its high-level visuals and adoption of ray tracing technology in a manner that really makes a different to the feel and playstyle of a game. It's also an expansion of Remedy's beloved Alan Wake universe, as was proven by the recent unveiling of the AWE expansion. Remedy seems keen to continue that with its next game.
This will now be known as the Remedy Connected Universe and could well be the setting for all its future games — at least for the forseeable future.
"Slowly, patiently, behind the scenes, we’ve been planning and plotting to make this a reality," "I’m absolutely thrilled to tell you that now, the time has come to take the first concrete step on this road, establishing Remedy Connected Universe. You have no idea how happy it makes me to be able to finally make this statement."
The Alan Wake game incidents were part of the Federal Bureau of Control's various investigations, and AWE will bring more lore from that game into Control. From there, who knows?
"This is still just a humble beginning," Remedy said. "We’re already hard at work on a future Remedy game that also takes place in this same universe."
