Overwatch is finally getting one of the most requested features for quite some time: an in-game replay system. This will make is so that players can watch back recordings of their past games in-client without having to resort to external recording and playback software.
Of all the games Blizzard has released in recent years, Overwatch has proved to be one of the most successful and it continues to grow, expand, and evolve with new content and features as time goes on. One that fans have been clamoring for for years, though, is a replay system, and they're finally going to get it... once it's gone through some testing.
The replay feature is currently only available in the Overwatch PTR, as per PCGamer, but for those who do have a play with it, they'll find that it has the 10 most recent matches recorded in their entirety from every player's perspective. That gives gamers an in-depth look at not only how they played and what they could have done better (or just snapshots of how awesome they are) but a look at their opponents and teammates too. That makes it possible to analyze plays and see how they could improve to combat enemy attacks, or team composition and coordination.
You can also overlay a map as part of the replay, making it easier to track where everyone is at any time, take static perspectives around the map as the game plays out, watch in first and third-person perspectives, and use slow motion and speed up functions to change the pace of the replay.
Expect this feature to see a few more months of testing before rolling out to the wider server base.
