Resident Evil 2 is the next video game to get the board game treatment and it's being put together by Steamforged Games, the company behind the decent adaptation of Dark Souls. This one will also see players taking on the game together as a 1-4 player cooperative experience.
Coming with a selection of zombie and monstrous miniatures, players will have to scrounge for resources, try to stay alive and complete their mission, all while managing the "Tension Deck," which is designed to randomize gameplay elements enough that it will be fresh to play each time. You'll have to watch your ammunition and try and discover clues about what's going on, while potentially avoiding areas which seem too heavily infested.
And that's just the base game.
For some reason, this doesn't have much in the way of pledge levels. There's only one and it comes with everything, including the base game and a bunch of extras.
Since the early bird offerings are all gone, you're only option is the $95 one which offers you the standard Resident Evil 2 board game, its B-Files Expansion with a number of additional miniatures and missions, the Kickstarter exclusive "Leon" miniature and a bunch of extra stretch goals.Unlocked goals so far include extra standard zombies, more zombie dogs, Ivy, morgue zombies, zombies on fire, a giant spider and a licker, among others.
While all that sounds great, remember that even with established companies, Kickstarter campaigns are commonly delayed and in some cases are never delivered at all. So be careful with your money.
If all goes to plan Resident Evil 2 the board game will be released September 2018.
