Vblank Entertainment announced today that it is working on an MS DOS port of its popular Retro City Rampage.
There are no mistakes here, the game is being ported to the 34 years old operating system. More specifically, Retro City Rampage 486 is a port of Retro City Rampage DX, an enhanced version of the game featuring a story mode, arcade challenges, and free roaming.
Before getting too excited, make sure your system is able to match the game's steep hardware requirements. To enjoy Retro City Rampage 486 to its full extent, you'll need an Intel 486, a whopping 3.7 MB of hard drive space, and 4MB of RAM. In case you're stuck with a multi-core CPU and a few gigabytes of RAM, you can always use DOSBox to run DOS games.
Retro City Rampage is a popular open world gangster game with retro feel and homage to the original Grand Theft Auto. The game has already been ported to Windows, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360 and NES. It is interesting to note that Vblank chose to port the game to DOS but not to Linux.
Retro City Rampage 486 still has no specific release date.
