Cryptozoic, the makers of many a licensed board game, has announced that it has two new Rick and Morty themed games in the works. The first, is a board game centred around Anatomy Park and its various themed locations, while the second is a deck building game called Close Encounters of the Rick Kind.
Anatomy Park is a game about cooperative building. Players will take on the roles of Dr Bloom, Annie, Poncho, Roger and Rick and Morty themselves, as they work together to build the ideal theme park within the body of Ruben the hobo. Placement of rides and attractions is a key component of the gameplay, but as in the Anatomy Park Rick and Morty episode, everyone will have a different idea about where they should go, based on their character's particular tastes and needs.
Moving something that someone else put down will be a big component and source of annoyance for the other players, but it's how you ultimately win in what is ostensibly a cooperative experience.
But of course the inside of Ruben isn't a very hospitable place. With diseases rampaging, players will have to sacrifice some of their tiled hand to keep them at bay, which in turn makes you less competitive with your opponents. Sacrificing them to some of the monsters of Ruben's bowels sounds like a viable strategy.
We don't know quite as much about Close Encounters of the Rick Kind, but we're told it's a deck building game that has you collecting Ricks of various types, which can perform various tasks, especially when combined with otherwise inert Jerry and Summer cards.
Both will be debuted at the upcoming New York Toy fair over the next few days and will release in June and Q4 respectively.
