To celebrate the upcoming League of Legends World Championships, set to take place in October, Riot Games, the developer behind the incredibly popular MOBA, has released a new animated short, showing some of the struggles associated with being a pro-LoL player.
Unlike last year's cinematic, which focused on blending pro players with their favourite characters/champions, this one has a much more humane side to it all and actually shows the silhouetted characters playing the game itself.
Some have questioned the animation choices though, since there are elements that play into the gamer stereotype of getting aggressive at a loss, with one player even smashing a keyboard. However I quite liked it, I thought it had a much more human element than the last time Riot took a stab at animating its top players.
We see the hardship, effort and passion that goes into a game like this and made it about the players, rather than the characters they play in the game, which seemed like a good move to me. Plus it's got a great song from Imagine Dragons to back it all up.
What do you guys think of this year's World Championship animation?
