Video games deserve some movie adaptations, especially the ones with epic stories like those found in the Assassin's Creed games. That's why there's been one in the works for a while, but other than Michael Fassbender being given the titular role of Miles, the future dweller that steps back to experience the lives of his ancestors in the Animus machine, we haven't heard much about it for a while now. Today though, a report leaked out and then disappeared that said Robert Downey Junior had been cast to play Leonardo Da Vinci.
If true, this would place the story in the universe of Assassin's Creed 2, making the assassin in the movie Ezio Auditore, who's main aim is to avenge the murder of his family members whilst also uncovering the far reaching plots of the unscrupulous Templars.
Of course this being a rumour though and one that's no longer online at that, this could all be nonsense. Certainly the 7th August 2015 release date for the movie is an obvious placeholder, as there's no way a movie that will require as much work as a 15th century Italian epic will take, is getting made in less than a year.
However if it does turn out to be true, is this the AC story you guys would want to be told? And do you like the idea of Robert Downey playing Da Vinci? He's played one forward thinking inventor before, why not another?
