Rocket League flips on to Xbox One next week

One of the biggest gaming success stories of 2015 was Rocket League, the car-based football title that has garnered many fans and built a burgeoning Esports scene around its team based gameplay. Part of that was certainly down to its free-spot on the PlayStation 4's Plus package which gave it a lot of early players.

Surprisingly though, the developers kept it well clear of the Xbox One, but not for much longer. It's set to launch on the console as soon as next week, bringing with it a number of updates and additions - all of them released since the game launched in-fact - as well as its own little taste of DLC, in the form of a Sunset Overdrive package of car, effects and aesthetic additions.

Those specific updates will not be available anywhere else, so utilising those extras will certainly help you stand out against PC and PS4 players who have been gaming away for a while now.

Don't expect to be quite as good as them right off of the bat though, because with more than seven months of play-time lead in, they are certainly going to be better at aerials than you.

It is expected that at the time of the game launching on Xbox One, Season Two of the game's ranked mode will begin too, which looks to replace the traditional Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum ratings with more skill-based matchmaking. Players with a strong history of goal scoring or keeping will find themselves matched up with comparably skilled players, rather than those that have risen through the ranks on the back of their strong teammates.
