A few new rumors are circulating about Visceral Game's upcoming Star Wars title and they are very much big spoilers for the experience, so if you don't want to know what they are, don't ruin it for yourself and click away now.
You have been warned.
For those of you that don't mind knowing about the upcoming experience and what it may be like according to MakingStarWars, read on. The game is said to be set after New Hope and a little before the Empire Strikes Back. You'll play a character called Dodger, who's using such a pseudonym because they dodged the draft to join Imperial service in the military.
Because of that, you're hunted by the Imperial forces and have had to go into hiding in the underbelly of the galaxy's criminal underworld. When your home world on Alderaan is destroyed though and you end up on a 'survivor's' list, the Empire really comes hunting for you. Especially when the Death Star is destroyed and the Storm Troopers come stomping around your adopted home on the edge of civilization.
Purportedly, Dodger begins the game by taking on some jobs with Jabba the Hutt, giving a chance for series' favorite characters to make an appearance, as well as get Dodger themselves into the action. Friends will betray them and enemies will turn out to be in a similar situation to Dodger, but ultimately a doomsday weapon and the Empire's plans for it, force the protagonist to take a stand and make a choice about whether to hide and live free for a short while, or help our the rest of the Galaxy and risk their freedom.
Gameplay wise, players can expect to use a combination of whip and blaster, with variants of each weapon type to provide some strategic depth to combat.
Take all of this with a pinch of salt, but it does make the game sound rather interesting.
Visceral Games' untitled Star Wars game is slated for release at some time in 2018.
