Just Cause 2 felt like the type of game GTA always wanted to be. It was a vast, open world with vehicles, explosions, guns and grappling hook slingshots, without some of the series hang ups like a functional internet and multitude of mini-games.
However that came out four years ago at this point, so it's about damn time we got to step back into the shoes of Rico Rodriguez and finally it looks like that might happen. At least, some point in the future, as new screenshots have appeared of a rumoured sequel.
The images are available in the gallery above and feature snaps of beautiful sunsets, the game's shop (featuring what worryingly looks like the ability to buy in-game cash), some mini game action in a random cave and a bird's eye view of the island we'll be wreaking havoc on this time.
It doesn't really tell us much about the game, but it does at least suggest that Avalanche studios isn't just working on a Mad Max game and it certainly makes it clear that whatever it's developing is pretty.
