Jagex, the makers one of the world's longest running and most popular free to play MMOs, Runescape, has announced that along with the upcoming Transformers arena battler, that it would be releasing another game in 2015 as well. It's a collectible card game based on the Runescape universe, called Chronicle: Runescape Legends.
This is clearly a similar tack to the one taken by Blizzard, with the release of its Warcraft themed card game Hearthstone, but Jagex seems to be taking more inspiration from the indie success story Hex instead.
In Chronicle, players will be able to go on single player quests, take down epic bosses and of course, compete head to head with other players in highly competitive PvP matchups as well.
"We’ve been quietly developing Chronicle: Runescape Legends to ensure that it’s not only a fun and compelling player experience, but one still very much interwoven into the rich lore of RuneScape," said lead designer James Sweatman.
With over a year of development on the game so far, Jagex expects to release it sometime next year.
What do you guys think of how this game looks and sounds so far? Is it something you'd be excited for? Or are CCGs just becoming the next overdone genre?
