Facepunch Studios, the team behind the hit indie sandbox title Rust, which captured everyone's imaginations when first released back in 2013, is finally about to do away with around 50 per cent of the men in the game.
With the upcoming introduction of female player models however, much like race, they will be assigned randomly when the game launches. That means that you may end up as a woman even if you're a man, and vice versa.
"To clear up some confusion, when we it does go live you won’t get a choice of whether you’re female or male. We’re not "taking the choice away" from you. You never had a choice," said Garry Newman, the creator of Garry's mod and founder of Facepunch. "A man’s voice coming out of a woman’s body is no more weird than an 8 year-old boy’s voice coming out of a man’s body."
Other additions coming to the game include new armour types like wood and bone, which should help keep players a little more protected, as well as break up all the silhouettes of fully nude bodies running around clubbing each other to death.
However as exciting as all these new features are, for now they are being restricted to staff and admins. So if you see a female avatar, assume they have the powers of a god for now.
