If you're so excited by the prospect of the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider that you think you'll end up playing through it a few times, then Eidos Montreal has you covered. The developer is adding a New Game Plus mode to the title, making the game harder and more nuanced for repeat players, by introducing new skill paths which let you play the game in new and exciting ways.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider picks up the trail of Lara Croft laid out by the reboot prequels in the series and sees her working as an archaeologist who ends up becoming embroiled in a Mayan Apocalypse. Typical tomb raiding stuff. If you fancy doing it more than once though, you will be able to carry over all your weapons, skills, outfits, equipment and upgrades, with the option of travelling down one of three paths.
The Serpent Path will let you use camouflage more effectively and turn the game far more stealthy. The Jaguar Path gives you more powerful melee combat skills, turning it into more of a third-person brawler, while the Eagle Path makes scouting easier, improving Lara's ranged skills to turn the game into more of a third-person shooter, (thanks PCGamesN).
Each path will also unlock unique skills, so playing through New Game Plus multiple times might even have its own rewards.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is slated for release on September 14 on Xbox One, PS4, and Windows PCs.
