World of Warcraft will introduce ray traced lighting in its upcoming Shadowlands expansion, making the game look prettier than ever before for those with the ray tracing compatible graphics cards. That includes Nvidia RTX and 3000 series GPUs, as well as AMD next-generation RDNA2 cards.
Shadowlands is WoW's eighth expansion and lets players visit the afterlife of Azeroth's inhabitants. Players will have a new region to explore, new enemies to fight, and a choice between four distinct covenants to join. That in turn will grant unique arms and armaments, unlockable through bespoke quests.
As with most previous expansions, Shadowlands also improves the graphical fidelity of WoW once again, with ray tracing being perhaps the most obvious addition. Shadows are real time and more accurate than ever, creating a game world that is more believable and pleasing to the eye.
Shadowlands also supports AMD's FidelityFX ambient occlusion technologies, for improved performance, even with ray tracing enabled. Variable rate shading also boosts frame rates by dynamically altering resolution to make the most of your GPU's power without taxing it where it's not necessary.
If you want to play Shadowlands but haven't purchased it yet, you can get for free it as part of the AMD Raise the Game bundle, along with Godfall, with every RX 5000 or 6000-series graphics card buy.
