Firaxis has released a patch for Civilization VII addressing some issues with the UI, as noted in Steam reviews. This is the game's second patch, less than 24 hours after its release.
News in brief
- Patch 2 addresses issues with the UI as well as tweaks to AI and gameplay.
- The patch is only for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck, with console patching to follow.
- PC/console crossplay has been temporarily disabled until version parity is achieved.
Sid Meier's Civilization VII currently has a "Mixed" score on Steam, with over 12,400 reviews, many of them critical.
Following early access players' complaints about the UI, Firaxis responded with Patch 2, fixing several UI bugs and making minor tweaks to the AI and gameplay. You can view the full patch notes on Steam.
This patch is only for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck. Console versions take longer to patch, which means the title's PC/console crossplay has been turned off temporarily until there's version parity. There shouldn't be any issues with PC/PC and console/console multiplayer.
Civilization VII is now available to play worldwide and already has mods
Civilization VII released at 9PM PT on February 10 on the US West Coast and at midnight in local time zones around the world. Those who preordered the Founders or Deluxe editions got to dive into the full game last week.
Despite only launching yesterday, the game has already seen some mods, with one dedicated player launching their own mod aimed at fixing some of the UI concerns. The Simple UI Adjustments mod by Sukritact adds tooltips when players hover over tiles. That's a huge and handy time saver for those who don't want to dig through menus or look things up in the Civilopedia.
