Most of us have tried virtual reality at some point, whether it's in a Google Cardboard, Oculus Rift, PSVR or HTC Vive, but have any of you slept in a headset and woken up still in VR? That's what Paul "Gooboberti," Clark did when he spent several hours a night inside the VR world of Anyland - only to then go to sleep with the headset on. This lead to some bizarre instances of him actually waking up inside virtual reality.
Anyland is a VR simulation that lets you build anything you want and interact with it in VR in any manner you want. In the case of Gooboberti, he modelled his living room inside Anyland, even putting furniture and items in the VR space in the same position as they are in the real world.
That meant that when he fell asleep with the headset on, he awoke to two friends waking him up in VR while still in the simulation. It was a bit of a bizarre feeling for him and made for an interesting social experiment.
However, he and the creators of Anyland have now warned everyone to not sleep with their VR headset on, as it can cause inflammation if it rests on the wrong spot, as it did for Gooboberti after a few nights of use.
