Since its launch in June 2007, several methods have been devised to allow it to work on other networks than AT&T, but all of them were too complicated and required advanced hardware and software skills. This has finally come to an end with the release of the first 100% software solution that unlocks iPhone carrier's lock.
The new hack is developed by a six-man team called iPhoneSIMfree and it has been confirmed to be working flawlessly by hardware experts at engadget.com.
"We can confirm with 100% certainty that iPhoneSIMfree.com's software solution completely SIM unlocks the iPhone, is restore-resistant, and should make the iPhone fully functional for users outside of the US", said hardware expert Ryan Block.
iPhoneSIMfree team plans to start selling their software iPhone unlocker within few days.
