The release of Metal Gear Solid 5 was a strange one. Although considered by many to be creator Hideo Kojima's swansong, the developer/publisher Konami, dropped his name from almost all aspects of the game and he ended up leaving the company to pursue his own indie efforts.
The game went down well with fans, but clearly Konami weren't the only ones who weren't pleased with Kojima's involvement. The voice actor for all previous Metal Gear Solid games - replaced for MGS5 with Kiefer Sutherland - David Hayter, has described the game as being "60 hours of humiliation."
"I think he handled it pretty badly and I've got no particular love for Kojima," Hayter said (via Eurogamer). "I respect him and I think he's a brilliant game maker. I don't know him as a person, [but] as a businessman I was not impressed. So no, I don't feel any need to go back and work with him again."
His bitterness may be to do with the fact that clearly Kojima wasn't a massive fan of the voice Hayter brought to the table. Previously Kojima had tried to replace him on previous MGS games, with the long-time voice actor and screenwriter forced to re-audition for roles in MGS3 and 4, though he did end up with the role in both cases.
