Several reports have confirmed that Microsoft will finally allow some games to require Hard Disk Drive to play. Those games will have a "Hard Disk Drive Required" logo clearly viewable on the front of the case as well as having it stated on the back info panel.
This would mean that Xbox 360 Core owners won't be able to play those games, unless they buy and install the (overpriced) Xbox 360 HDD. It is estimated that Xbox 360 Core model count for 20% of all Xbox 360 units sold to date.
When asked, a Microsoft spokesman said that "every game will work with every Xbox 360 system, but just like some games will require you to have a Memory Unit to save games, some games will require you to have a Hard Drive to experience them".
The aforementioned quote doesn't make sense to us either.
