Elite Dangerous is a massive, massive game. With billions of solar systems to explore, there will always be something new out there to find, hidden away in the far reaches of space. One thing that has always been speculated about though, is aliens. People have been finding ruins and wrecks of alien ships for years, so there was always a suggestion that some may have survived, somewhere.
Now we have proof that they did, as one Xbox gamer stumbled across a fully functioning, very fast Thargoid ship.
A report just coming through that a CMDR has experienced something... strange. https://t.co/NJVhHWe4eB

The player who made first contact with living Thargoid was DP Sayre and they uploaded a number of videos of the experience to their Xbox DVR page. The experience of coming across the ship must have been quite surprising and shocking, as he quickly found his ship disabled and unable to respond to what initially seemed like some sort of energy attack.
However after the giant starfish ship performed some sort of spinning, energy collection process, it turned on its space-heel and shot away, before beaming itself through a wormhole of its own creation. DP attempted to follow, his scanners trying to pick up any sort of information about the ship, but to no avail.
He wasn't hailed, he wasn't able to broadcast any sort of message, but we now know that aliens do exist in Elite Dangerous.
It makes you wonder, what have they been doing all this time?
