Sony announced it will release a new, portable PlayStation console, called PS One, that will be compatible with mobile phones, allowing users to download games and exchange information.
In addition to offering wireless connectivity, the smaller, more streamlined version of the 32-bit PlayStation console will also feature a tiny peripheral screen, which will be sold separately and will be available next spring. Sony says the display is releasing later than the PS One unit due to the worldwide shortage of LCDs.
Super Screen: LCD to be available by spring.
PS One goes on sale in Japan on July 7, and will cost approximately 15,000 yen, or about $150. It will hit the US and Europe by September.
