Digital Foundry has noticed that the recent PlayStation 4 Star Wars bundle includes three titles from the PlayStation 2 era. After digging in further, the team deduced that those titles are run through an emulator.
And it looks like the emulator is taking advantage of PS4's extra juice to improve the visual fidelity of the games it run. Of course, the textures, 2D sprites and the 3D models themselves don't change, but they do get a lot crispier when rendered at higher resolution.
Sony confirmed the use of PS2 emulator to bring those games to PlayStation 4, but refused to share any more info.
