After months of silence, Sony has finally confirmed the existence of the rumored more powerful PlayStation 4 Neo, albeit it won't be shown at E3.
Speaking to The Financial Times, Sony’s Andrew House said that the new model is meant to co-exist alongside the existing one. He refused to reveal any pricing info, but confirmed that it will be more expensive than the current version's $350 price point.
"It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4," explained House. "We will be selling both through the life cycle. All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4."
The new model's hardware is ready for market release, but Sony wants to make sure there are enough games and experiences that can leverage its capabilities at launch; and that's why the Neo won't be revealed at E3.
According to the rumors, PlayStation 4 Neo will sport more powerful CPU and GPU which would allow it to support 4K resolution and Virtual Reality gaming.
