Rumors have it that the next Playstation 3 firmware update will boost the console's Blu-ray functionality.
According to Video Business, Sony Pictures' executive vice president of advanced technologies, Don Eklund, said that the next firmware release will improve the interactive features of Blu-ray discs on the PS3.
Boosting Blu-ray functionality would reasonably mean adding BD profile 1.1 features to the console's Blu-ray player. Most prominent of the BD 1.1 features is the picture-in-picture capability.
The next Playstation 3 firmware update is expected on 30, October, 2007.
