A new report from Nikkei revealed that, for the first time since 2005, Sony has sold more video game hardware than Nintendo during the last fiscal year.
According to the report, Sony has sold 18.7 million units of PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PSP, PS Vita and PS Vita TV while Nintendo has 16.31 million units of Wii, Wii U, 3DS and 2DS. As usual, Microsoft trailed behind both companies with 11.6 million units of Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Perhaps this isn't really a surprise given how well PlayStation 4 was received and how poorly Wii U fared.
