Sony has made it clear that despite the rocky launch of Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC, it won't be the last port that makes the jump to the master race platform. Having seen the growth of PC gaming become something that cannot be denied in recent years, Sony has started to realize that it can make more money by releasing popular games on the platform (at least eventually) rather than keep them exclusive, in the hopes that it makes PC gamers buy a PlayStation as well.
This wasn't a major announcement, but more a begrudging capitulation. As PCGamesN points out, hidden within the Game and Network Services section of Sony's recent earnings report, was the following gem: "We will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability". Going forward, PC ports will be a firm part of the corporate strategy in terms of gaming. The reasoning, given here, at least, is quite simple: "Competition from online PC games and players from other industries is expected to continue to intensify".
Recent releases from the Sony camp that have done exceedingly well, include the aforementioned Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Death Stranding, two games that were originally only available on the PS4. Although Sony hasn't stated what games it may consider releasing on PC in the future, The Last of Us and its sequel seem like prime considerations, considering they are often lauded as two of the best games ever made, and yet have only ever been confined to the PlayStation ecosystem.
The God of War series could make the leap too, as could classic PlayStation remasters like Shadow of the Colossus.
