Cooperative survival shooter, Space Hulk Death Wing is set to pit a number of the Imperium's finest against hordes of aliens of all races and creeds, inside the confines of a claustrophobic old space carrier full of death, darkness and more death. While a logical extension of the IP, not much has been seen of the multiplayer title until now, when a lengthy section of leaked footage has appeared online.
Developed by a joint partnership of Streum on Studio and Cyanide, the shooter title looks to be a slower paced Left 4 Dead/Vermintide type of game, combining gunplay, melee combat, with an ever present need to progress through the bowels of the monstrous ship.
The graphics aren't bad, though explosions and gibbing of enemies seem a bit overblown. The frame rate is also pretty atrocious in places, leaving us hoping that this is old footage and not something ripped straight from a game that is set to come out in just a few weeks' time.
Still, the tone is good and if the developers can really capture the feel of a derelict and dangerous ship, complete with ever present terrors, it could be a fun way to spend an evening or two. The levelling mechanic will no doubt keep a few gamers interested for some time to come.
