Nintendo's next big first party title is set for release, but this time around it isn't based on an established franchise. Yes Splatoon, the third person arena shooter is now available in Japan and will shortly be up for grabs elsewhere in the world and it's reviewed rather well, with more outlets giving it between an eight and nine out of 10. The lowest of the bunch is a 7/10, but that's far from a common result.
While the game isn't perfect, people praised the unique way players can use their painted sections of the map to get around, as well as the cute and fun weaponry and characters. They did however point out that Nintendo is not an experienced matchmaking company and that many online features are missing, including a decent sized map rotation.
What this means for game sales remains to be seen. While the Wii U has a good 10 million systems out there in the wild now, it's a far cry from What Nintendo would have wished for the system at this point in its life-cycle, so sales of this game may not be what it hoped either.
Still, in the UK things have been hampered even more, as a truck containing the entire stock for GAME UK's special editions of the game and their accompanying squid Amiibos have been stolen.
GAME is now offering refunds to those that want them, as well as standard editions of the game with a £10 ($16) discount if they want it on launch day, otherwise they'll need to wait for the replacement stock to come in.
