Whether you knew the game as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or Stalker - Oblivion Lost get ready for groundbreaking news. THQ, the game's publisher, has decided to change the name to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. The news of the change was one of the tiny bits of information that could be extracted from THQ's announcement on its fiscal 2004 Third Quarter results.
Exciting though the name change is, the real important information about Stalker, contained in the announcement is that the game has a release period within THQ's fiscal 2005 product line up. That means we can expect the game sometime between April 1st 2004 and March 31st 2005. More optimistic sources claim that the game will see an April release although a fall or November 2004 date seems to be the favorite with industry analysts.
In the same announcement THQ also seem to expect a lot, in fiscal 2005, from the next installment of WWE: SmackDown!, SpongeBob SquarePants and Tak and the Power of Juju as well as games based on the next Disney/Pixar film, The Incredibles.
THQ will also launch new original properties, which include S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, described as appealing to core gamer titles such as Full Spectrum Warrior, The Punisher and Dawn of War.
