Yes, star Citizen is still in development and though there are many who question whether it will ever be officially released, that doesn't stop Cloud Imperium from trying to sell more ships to its crowd funding community. The latest in that batch is the Misc Prospector, a mining ship with bunk space for one, but plenty of cargo room for all of those newly mined materials.
The Prospector is a popular mining ship within the game's universe, so it's likely to be a common sight among players and NPCs alike. It features a large, laser-based mining rig at the front and a small crew compartment complete with fancy, space-cartoon comforter and pillow.
The lighting effects shown off in the trailer are truly stunning, showing that despite having been in development for several years at this point, Star Citizen is still one of, if not the best looking game in the world.
It's also a good showcase of how different lighting models can affect the scene, with battle stations alarms blaring and a more general lighting scenario each highlighted in the video. Each looks fantastic, so regardless of what's going on, flying one of these ships should look amazing.
Star Citizen is currently sitting at Alpha 2.6.1, with plans for version 3.0 to launch sometime in Q1 this year. There is still no real idea of when the final release might be, though the game continues to draw in crowd funding. Its current total is over $140 million, which makes it seem like no other game will ever be crowd funded to this extent.
