Console and mobile Stardew Valley players have been waiting for Patch 1.6 for a long time — but no longer. The long-awaited patch has finally arrived, and it brings every version of the game up to date with themselves. But not content with delivering that, Concerned Ape has also dropped a big new 1.6.9 patch as well.
News in brief
- Stardew Valley is now on the same version on mobile, console, and PC
- Patch 1.6 is one of the largest in the game's history
- Patch 1.6.9 isn't as large, but still adds a good amount of new content
Stardew Valley has long been plagued by a disparity between versions. Specifically, the PC version of the game tended to get patches before the console versions and especially before the Android and iPhone versions. That's no longer the case, as Concerned Ape, also known as Eric Barone, has brought Patch 1.6 to both consoles and mobile versions of the game.
This is most certainly a big deal. Patch 1.6 is, simply put, enormous. It adds a new farm type, several new village festivals, more endgame content, and even support for eight-player multiplayer. It arrived on PC in March, and console and mobile players have felt somewhat left out the entire time since its release.
So there's a lot for players on those platforms to explore — but PC players also have some new content to explore, as Barone has also included a whole new patch on top of the update. Titled Patch 1.6.9, the new patch adds some quality of life changes and a bunch of bug fixes, as well as some additional content. As befits his style, Barone is enigmatically mysterious about the new content. The big new addition in this patch is a "new friend" who appears to sell players any unique items they may have lost throughout the course of the game. It doesn't come cheap, though it's worth pointing out that PC players can now use cheats to get as much money as they want, so that's good.
