Welcome back to the Roughnecks, trooper. The bug menace in the theatrical universe of Starship Troopers might be more than 20 years old, but it's just as dangerous as ever. Fortunately, a new generation of digital generals will soon be able to take the fight back to them in a real-time strategy game called Terran Command. Built on a similar model to survival RTS games like They are Billions and Conan: Unconqurered, Starship Troopers: Terran Command will see players facing off against the unrelenting hordes of warriors, tigers, tankers, rippers, and brain bugs with a small, but ever growing collection of marines and military hardware.
Rather than focusing on sandbox survival like its inspirational predecessors, though, Terran Command will offer a dynamically-generated campaign set within the movie universe. There will be an overarching story, individual missions, and battle options that will change based on the way you play and the choices you make. There will be even be a little political commentary, according to PCGamesN, with the option to follow the movie universe's militarized societal goals, or a more democratic one that offers new ways to play, fight, and win.
It's being developed by Slitherine Games, a British developer that has a history of both digital and tabletop board game production. It has a particular slant of World War II historical strategy games, which seems like a great fit for the limited arsenal afforded to the poor troopers in the mobile infantry.
Still, they're doing your part. Are you?
If you'd like to know more, there's more to see on the official Steam page. Starshtop Troopers: Terran command launches in 2020.
