Earlier this year Microsoft opened up Xbox One to cross-network play. Yesterday the Steam version of Rocket League became the first game to support that feature.
Rocket League was launched in February 2016. Since then more than 2 million Xbox One players have competed in it. With yesterday's update, those players are now able to play against their PC counterparts.
In case you're uncomfortable playing against players armed with the more powerful keyboard-and-mouse combo, cross-network play can be turned on or off anytime from the options menu. In the meanwhile, Microsoft is working with more developers to add cross-network play to their games.
