If you could do with a new game or two to enjoy over the next few months before the holiday period, now's a great time to get them as Steam, Humble Bundle, and GoG have all launched their Halloween sales and there is more available than just horror games. Perfect for those of us who can't really handle the jump scares and the creeping adrenaline dumps.
Of course, some of the best selling games at this time of year are always scary ones. Dead by Daylight, Hunt: Showdown, Vampyr, and Dying Light are some of the most popular games being sold on Steam right now. Personally, I'd recommend Darkest Dungeon and Sunless Sea if you want creepy, rather than scary experiences and some solid gameplay mechanics to boot.
Other great games offered up in this sale which aren't necessarily horror themed, include Grim Fandango: Remastered, The Room Two, Alien: Isolation (ok that one's pretty scary), Sundered, Inside, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Dark Souls III, Shadow of War: Definitive Edition, and Rust, among others.
GoG's Trick or Treat sale offers some of the same games as Steam, but a whole lot of more niche titles too. There's The Colonists, Darkwood, Cuphead, Observer, Firewatch, Mount and Blade: Warband (a personal favorite) and Yooka Laylee among others. All of which are not only on sale, but come DRM free with manuals and soundtracks included.
Over at Humble, there are some great deals too, including discounted copies of Strange Brigade, Prey, Visage, Dead by Daylight, SOMA, Outlast, Plague Inc, and XCOM 2 among many others.
What new games are you picking up this Halloween season?
