Considering most felt that the Alternate Reality (AR) game that Valve put in play for the Steam Winter Sale wasn't particularly engaging, perhaps it's no surprise that there's a new one already - at least according to the sleuths on the . There they point out that some interesting new additions have been made to the platform in recent days, some of which seem to point to the upcoming Jonathan Blow puzzle game, The Witness.
The first clue is a secret map has been added to Mini Metro, a game where you design a subway for a busy city. If you solve it, it turfs up some strange symbols. There's also a new image in Crypt of the Necrodancer, which reveals the same symbol when Hex editing is applied.
Legend of Dungeon and The Magic Circle both have similar symbols and imagery too, all seemingly pointing to one thing: Jonathan Blow's The Witness. It's not been confirmed by anyone, VG247 certainly thinks that's the direction this is pointing, as the game is full of symbols and mysteries to discover.
But why tease it in various other games so obtusely? There's plenty of press surrounding the game already, so perhaps it's a large scale meta-puzzle that was put together in collaboration with the other indie developers.
What do you think?
