Late last year, many fans of The Stomping Land jumped ship and gave up on the dinosaur hunting, tribe building title, as the lead develop, Alex "Jig" Fundora had gone completely quiet, even leaving community facing staff out of the loop. Ultimately though he did show up again with some updates to the game, which managed to salvage some of the flood of gamers leaving the already pretty barren servers.
Now though the game looks pretty dead, as even key staff have said they haven't heard anything from Fundora in a long time. Even one of the dinosaur modellers has now left to go and work on Beasts of Prey.
His reason for officially leaving the project was that he hadn't heard from Fundora in almost half a year and that he was owed a low of money in back-pay and his own self-funding of development. Initially The Stomping Land managed to raise over $100,000 from its Kickstarter campaign, with even more sales coming in once the game hit Early Access. Since then however updates have been almost non-existent and Fundora himself might as well have disappeared.
Fans that are left have been attacking the game on Steam reviews to try and encourage others not to buy it and have taken to Kickstarter support to try and force a refund from Fundora. However since he seems impossible to contact, the best that can be hoped is that he isn't able to crowd-fund any more games in the future.
Did any of you get burned by The Stomping Land?
